Job Overview
We are seeking a Server Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our organization's server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting both on-premises and cloud-based servers to ensure high availability, security, and performance. This role requires expertise in Windows and/or Linux server environments, virtualization technologies, and network protocols.
Job Responsibilities
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows and/or Linux servers in physical and virtual environments.
• Perform regular updates, patch management, and security hardening of servers.
• Ensure optimal server performance through capacity planning, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Monitor server health using tools like Nagios, SolarWinds, or PRTG.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues affecting servers.
• Implement disaster recovery solutions, including backup and restore strategies.
• Manage user permissions and access control via Active Directory (AD), LDAP, or other authentication systems.
• Implement and maintain group policies (GPOs) for security and compliance.
• Enforce security best practices by configuring firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and antivirus solutions.
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, HIPAA, or SOC 2.
Required Skills/Work Experience
• 8 years of experience
• Supervise and manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server based.
• Plan and monitor the optimization of system operation and resource utilization and perform systems capacity analysis and planning.
• Plan and monitor assistance to users in accessing and using business systems
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022) and/or Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, Debian).
• Proficiency in Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, SSH, FTP, SNMP, SMTP, HTTP/S).
• Hands-on experience with server monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix).
• Knowledge of backup solutions (Veeam, Acronis, Commvault).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Basic knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information science, or related field
