Title: PCB Designer / Hardware/ Electrical Engineer
Location: Dallas, TX (onsite)
Project: 12-18 months contract / Permanent
Job Summary
- The role of Electrical Engineer will focus on the design and development of logic and control circuits for embedded circuit boards.
- Responsibilities include schematic capture, PCB layout collaboration with third party vendors, prototyping, testing, and debugging to deliver reliable and innovative electronic products.
- The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing new designs, processes, or design modifications to meet design requirements and ensuring that the final design complies with all specified requirements.
- The candidate must be able to take initiative and work with minimal supervision, yet comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
- This role will also involve clearly communicating technical matters to internal stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop analog and digital circuit schematics using Mentor PADS schematic design tools
- Select electronic components based on electrical requirements, cost, and availability
- Generate and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs, schematics, test reports, and revision history
- Collaborate with third party PCB layout engineers ensuring signal integrity, thermal performance, and manufacturability
- Develop test procedures and validate electrical performance through simulation, prototyping, and hands-on lab testing
- Work closely with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless product integration
- Support board bring-up, debugging, and design validation throughout the product development lifecycle
- Produce reports on project progress and other details for managerial staff
- Interface with vendors, contract manufacturers, and suppliers to support PCB fabrication and assembly
- Test new systems and make design changes if needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve circuit-level and system-level issues
- Travel up to 10% (expenses covered)
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Mentor PADS schematic design tools and SAP
- Solid understanding of electronic components, circuit theory, signal processing, and power systems
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other lab equipment
- Familiarity with high-speed digital design, power management, or mixed-signal circuits is a plus
- Strong knowledge of North American standards: NFPA, NEC, UL/cUL, CSA, as well as International and European standards: IEC/CE
- Eagerness and willingness to learn new technologies
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Experience working in multi-functional team
- Proven experience in PCB design
Education and Experience Qualifications:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
