MSP IT Support Technician

Technology Solutions | Tucson, Arizona

Full-Time | On-Site | $45,000–$65,000 per year

Technology Solutions is looking for a motivated, client-focused IT Support Technician to join our Tucson team.

For nearly two decades, Technology Solutions has provided managed IT services and technology support to businesses throughout Arizona and New Mexico. We work closely with our clients as an extension of their teams, helping them solve day-to-day technology problems, maintain reliable systems, improve security, and make better technology decisions.

This is not a high-volume call center position where technicians follow scripts and rush users off the phone. Our technicians build relationships with the people they support, learn how each client’s business operates, and take real ownership of resolving issues.

You will work across a variety of clients, industries, systems, and technologies, so no two days are exactly the same.

This position is designed for an IT professional with at least two years of hands-on support experience who is ready to step into an established service desk, independently manage client issues, and take problems from initial diagnosis through resolution.

You do not need to know every technology you encounter. You do need to be comfortable troubleshooting unfamiliar problems, asking good questions, researching solutions, communicating clearly, and knowing when to collaborate or escalate.

What You’ll Do

Your primary responsibility will be supporting our clients and resolving technical issues from initial contact through completion.

You will work directly with end users, manage a steady flow of service tickets, collaborate with other technicians, and help maintain the technology environments our clients depend on every day.

In this role, you will:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve workstation, software, printing, network, mobile device, and peripheral issues
  • Provide both remote and on-site technical support
  • Take ownership of assigned tickets and follow issues through to resolution
  • Keep clients informed throughout the troubleshooting process
  • Document troubleshooting steps, system changes, and resolutions clearly and accurately
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications, accounts, licensing, permissions, and common administrative tasks
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, including account creation, access changes, device preparation, and documentation
  • Support Windows workstations and Windows Server environments
  • Work with Active Directory, Group Policy, file permissions, DNS, and DHCP
  • Troubleshoot basic to mid-level networking issues involving firewalls, switches, wireless access points, VLANs, VPNs, and internet connectivity
  • Install and configure software, perform system updates, apply patches, and assist with routine endpoint maintenance
  • Work with software vendors, internet service providers, and other third parties to resolve client issues
  • Identify issues that require escalation and provide complete documentation of the troubleshooting already performed
  • Participate in a shared, rotating after-hours on-call schedule for urgent client issues

The goal is not simply to close tickets. It is to solve problems thoroughly, communicate clearly, and leave clients confident that their issue was handled correctly.

What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for someone who combines a strong technical foundation with excellent communication, organization, and follow-through.

Successful technicians in this role are able to independently resolve most routine client issues, recognize when escalation is appropriate, and keep both clients and teammates informed throughout the process.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • At least two years of professional IT support, help desk, desktop support, or systems support experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, user accounts, applications, and network connectivity
  • Experience supporting Windows workstations in a business environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and common administrative functions
  • Working familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, file permissions, DNS, and DHCP
  • A practical understanding of TCP/IP networking, VPNs, wireless networking, firewalls, switches, and VLANs
  • Experience supporting printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other common business technology
  • The ability to manage multiple tickets and priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to explain technical issues clearly to nontechnical users
  • A professional and client-focused approach to support
  • The ability to work independently while knowing when to collaborate or escalate
  • Strong documentation and organizational habits
  • An understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and the importance of protecting client systems and data
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional travel to local client sites

The right person for this role will be dependable, motivated, curious, and willing to take ownership. We value technicians who remain calm under pressure, communicate proactively, and are willing to work through a problem rather than stop at the first obstacle.

Experience That Will Help You Stand Out:

The following experience is not required, but it may help you contribute more quickly in this role:

  • Previous experience working for a managed services provider or supporting multiple business environments
  • Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity, or cloud-based user management
  • Microsoft Intune or other endpoint management platforms
  • Remote monitoring and management tools
  • VMware, Hyper-V, or Proxmox
  • Remote Desktop Services, terminal servers, or virtual desktop environments
  • Firewall configuration and troubleshooting
  • Routing, subnetting, VLANs, and access rules
  • PowerShell, scripting, or workflow automation
  • Cybersecurity tools and practices, including EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, and endpoint security
  • Microsoft, CompTIA, or other relevant industry certifications

Certifications and college degrees are welcome, but we place significant value on demonstrated technical ability, troubleshooting skills, and real-world experience.

If you have strong hands-on experience, good judgment, and a history of supporting users effectively, we encourage you to apply.

Why Join Technology Solutions?

Working at an MSP provides exposure to a much wider range of technologies and business environments than many traditional internal IT positions.

Because we support complete client environments rather than a single application or technology, this role provides opportunities to work with:

  • Microsoft cloud services
  • Windows servers and workstations
  • Networking and firewalls
  • Cybersecurity platforms
  • Endpoint management
  • Virtualization
  • Business applications
  • Automation and scripting
  • A wide range of client environments and industries

Technicians who demonstrate strong ability, initiative, and judgment have opportunities to take on increasingly complex technical work and expand into additional areas of IT.

You will work alongside an experienced and collaborative team that shares information, helps one another solve difficult problems, and takes pride in providing dependable service.

We invest in the tools and systems our technicians need to work effectively, and we value practical ability, good judgment, curiosity, accountability, and a willingness to learn.
