Primary Purpose:
To provide friendly, professional technical support including the repair of printers, computers and other related technologies.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school graduate or GED
- Associates degree in a computer related field preferred
- Recent hardware repair certification concerning computers, printers and other related technologies preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team while solving IT problems and coordinating action
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective human relations and communication skills
- Ability to maintain established work schedule without supervision
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years in the field of repairing printers, computers and other IT related electronic equipment
- Background in electronics and repair of electronics
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Technical Support
- Perform all printer equipment repairs scheduled by manager.
- Perform preventative printer maintenance duties as scheduled.
- Install/repair equipment in timely manner as prescribed by manager. Assist with installation, support and handling of equipment as directed, including unboxing, lifting, moving and delivery.
- Process surplus electronic equipment for district auctions, including boxing, lifting, moving, pick-up and delivery of surplus equipment as directed by manager.
- Keep abreast of most recent computer software that the district utilizes at the operating system level as well as BIOS configurations.
- Apply analytical problem solving skills according to technical reference manuals to solve equipment failures in a time and cost-efficient manner.
- Perform component and board level repairs as prescribed by manager.
- Maintain necessary tools/scopes/test equipment necessary for repairs of technology equipment that the district chooses to repair in-house.
- Perform all system hardware enhancements/upgrades as directed.
Other
- Attend and pass all district financed certification courses/tests.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Non-Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; standard office equipment including personal computers and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching; may climb ladders
Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds), may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over)
Environment: Work is performed primarily in an office environment, though occasional work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse may be required when preparing hardware for auctions; occasional on-call and after-hours work; occasional districtwide travel; may be required to be on-call 24 hours a day
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

2025-2026 Salary Range Min. $41,735 Mid. $49,932 Max. $58,134 (Based on previous experience)
Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school.
Salary is based on 235 days. If working less than 235 days, the salary will be less.
