What You Will Be Doing

You will join the software development team supporting the creation of medical device software. You will lead cybersecurity-focused development activities, ensuring that protocols, Off-The-Shelf (OTS) software, and internal dependencies meet current vulnerability scan requirements. You will partner with existing software development projects by creating detailed plans to eliminate or alleviate identified threats. You will review application and test code for correctness and potential improvements, and you will drive work through software delivery practices in a fast-paced environment. You will author technical documentation and contribute to high-level design discussions using established software design concepts and patterns.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full stack Java applications using HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, Spring, Spring Boot, and Tomcat or Jetty.
• Analyze current vulnerability scan results and identify risks within applications and dependencies.
• Validate that protocols, OTS software, and internal dependencies are up to spec based on security findings.
• Partner with software project teams to plan remediation activities and coordinate delivery timelines.
• Translate security and design requirements into actionable plans, designs, and technical documentation.
• Document cybersecurity and engineering deliverables in alignment with established company practices.
• Support code quality by reviewing other team members’ application code and test code for correctness and improvements.
• Lead technical discussions and mentor individuals on complex technical content to ensure clarity and understanding.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8 years of development experience, with 1-2 years operating at a lead level, leading and delivering projects.
• Full stack Java development experience including HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, Spring, Spring Boot, and Tomcat or Jetty, with unit and integration testing using JUnit.
• Strong experience in server-side multi-threaded programming in Java, HTTPS, and web services.
• Design and development experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and JPA or Hibernate.
• Ability to analyze and remediate cybersecurity vulnerabilities within applications, including proficiency with network protocols and security measures such as mTLS authentication and encryption techniques.
• Experience in authoring technical documentation and collaborating effectively in Agile and Scrum environments.
• BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience (education and credentials as applicable).

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience working in an ISO or FDA-regulated environment within medical device or biotech product development under design control.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Angular, GWT, or JavaFX, and/or Java-based reporting tools like JasperReports.
• Experience with automated testing tools such as Gherkin or Cucumber and Selenium, along with scripting in PowerShell or command batch and/or Groovy.
• Experience with Git, and build and CI tools such as Gradle and Jenkins, plus cybersecurity certifications (ECSA, ECES, CISA, CCSP, or CISSP).

Pay

$56.00 – $80.00/hr
