About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable Controller to lead the day-to-day accounting operations of a growing technology services organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining GAAP compliance, managing the monthly close process, and leading a small accounting team.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and operationally strong. This is not a purely strategic role. The Controller must be comfortable rolling up their sleeves, solving problems, improving processes, and ensuring the accounting function runs smoothly.
This position will partner closely with the VP of Finance and leadership team as the company continues to grow through acquisitions and operational expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & GAAP Compliance
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Maintain accurate general ledger and supporting schedules
- Oversee revenue recognition, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support financial audits and coordinate with external auditors
Accounting Operations
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including:
- Accounts payable
- Accounts receivable
- Payroll accounting
- Expense management
- General ledger maintenance
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and collections processes
- Maintain strong internal controls and documentation
Team Leadership
- Manage and develop a small accounting team
- Provide clear direction, accountability, and support for team members
- Review work for accuracy and completeness
- Help build scalable processes as the organization grows
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows and reporting
- Strengthen close processes, reconciliations, and documentation
- Support system implementations and integrations as needed
Financial Support & Analysis
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Support leadership with financial reporting and analysis
- Provide insights into financial performance and operational trends
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA preferred
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience
- 3 years in a Controller or Accounting Manager leadership role
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Experience managing monthly close processes
- Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams
- Strong Excel and financial systems experience
- Experience with ERP systems (Dynamics, Business Central, etc.) preferred
- Experience in professional services or technology companies preferred
