Job Description:
A strategic sales leadership role focused on driving company growth by securing new clients and expanding existing accounts within the freight forwarding and logistics industry. The position involves managing the entire sales lifecycle and collaborating with internal operations teams to ensure excellent service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- New Business Development: Prospect for and acquire new customers through various methods including cold calling, networking, digital outreach, and industry events.
- Sales Pipeline Management: Build, maintain, and accurately forecast a strong sales pipeline using a CRM (e.g., HubSpot).
- Client Solutions: Develop and present tailored proposals, pricing, and rate quotations that highlight the company's value proposition.
- Account Expansion: Identify growth opportunities within an assigned portfolio of existing accounts, such as new trade lanes or value-added services (Ocean Import/Export, Air Import/Export, Domestic Trucking, Warehousing, Customs Brokerage).
- Collaboration: Partner with customer success, operations, and pricing teams to design customer-specific solutions and ensure smooth client onboarding and retention.
- Market Intelligence: Share competitive insights and market intelligence with leadership to inform strategy.
- Performance Tracking: Meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) for new accounts, revenue, and gross profit contribution.
Qualifications
- Experience: Typically requires 3 years of proven sales experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or 3PL.
- Skills: Must be highly self-motivated, results-driven with a "hunter" mindset, and possess excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in a related field is often preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with CRM systems is required, and knowledge of industry software like CargoWise is a plus.
