Job Description:
Role: Architect (Software Code Quality & Integration)
Location: Houston, TX (On-site – Highway 290 / Northwest Crossing)
Experience Level: 10 Years
Type: Long-term Contract (Potential for Hire)
Role Summary
We are seeking a specialized Architect for Software Code Quality & Integration to join a dedicated team supporting government-use software developed by third-party vendors. In this role, you will act as the primary guardian of code integrity, focusing on stability, reliability, and the enforcement of best practices across production systems. Unlike a traditional hands-on architect, your focus will be on the strategic review of code to eliminate defects and ensure seamless integration within a hybrid, event-driven architecture.
Key Responsibilities
• Code Quality Governance: Perform high-level code reviews (Java-based) to identify defects and ensure adherence to established coding standards.
• Architectural Guidance: Provide expert advisement on coding best practices and integration stability for internal software developed by third parties.
• Integration Oversight: Ensure the reliability of event-driven integrations and message queues within a hybrid architecture.
• Standardization: Define and refine coding standards to be applied across both defect remediation and new feature enhancements.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a bridge between development and the IT Project Manager, while interacting with a separate QA team to validate that code meets quality benchmarks.
• Light QA Validation: Occasionally perform targeted testing to confirm that validated code meets the defined architectural standards. Required Skills & Qualifications
• Deep Java Expertise: Strong background in Java-based environments and familiarity with multiple coding languages.
• Architectural Knowledge: Proven understanding of hybrid architectures and event-driven systems (queues, retries, etc.).
• Code Review Leadership: Extensive experience in Shift-Left quality initiatives and identifying logic/stability issues before release.
• Communication: Ability to provide clear, actionable guidance to developers without being the primary approver or implementer.
• Local Presence: Ability to work full-time on-site at the Houston, TX location.
Salary : $70 - $80
