WHAT YOU'LL DO

Techno is assembling seeking a Construction Safety Specialist  to support the Port Authority Office of Safety Management on active construction projects throughout the New York/New Jersey region. This field-based role ensures contractor compliance with OSHA, FDNY, NYC DOB, and other applicable safety regulations while promoting safe work practices, conducting site inspections, investigating incidents, and supporting overall construction safety and fire prevention programs.

• Conduct site inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with OSHA, FDNY, NYC DOB, and other applicable regulations.
• Review contracts, drawings, Health & Safety Plans, and project documentation for compliance.
• Monitor construction activities, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, performing root cause analyses and preparing reports.
• Maintain daily safety documentation and collaborate with Port Authority staff, contractors, and project stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 5 years of construction safety experience, preferably on heavy civil or major infrastructure projects.
• Valid NYC DOB Site Safety Supervisor (SST) card, OSHA 30 certification, and a valid driver's license.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, FDNY, NYC DOB, NFPA, and other applicable construction safety regulations.
• Experience with contractor safety audits, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and construction safety reporting.
• Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction safety management software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Port Authority SIDA credential and work in active outdoor construction environments, including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and rotating shifts as needed.
• CHST certification, a bachelor's degree in Safety or Construction Management, Port Authority experience, and OCIP/CCIP project experience are preferred.

COMPENSATION

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $65/hr. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
