Technical Program Manager – Battery Management Systems (BMS)Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite, flexible schedule) Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly technical Technical Program Manager (TPM) to support the delivery and optimization of a Gen1 Battery Management System (BMS) product. This individual will serve as the operational and technical glue between Electrical, Mechanical, and Systems Engineering teams—ensuring alignment, tracking execution, and enabling technical leads to focus on design excellence and system optimization.This is not a traditional project management role. The ideal candidate brings deep product design and manufacturing experience (preferably in EV or battery systems), understands engineering processes, and can translate complex technical work into concise executive-level reporting.Why This Role MattersThe Gen1 product is already in market transition, with ongoing design optimization underway. Technical leads are stretched, and cross-functional coordination—especially in a hybrid environment—has been challenging. This TPM will:Reduce execution bottlenecksStrengthen engineering cadenceSupport DFMEAs and climate validation workProtect product launch schedulesEnsure alignment across hardware and system teamsFailure to fill this role quickly risks timeline delays and increased strain on senior technical resources.Key ResponsibilitiesCross-Functional LeadershipGuide and align 4–5 technical leads across Electrical, Mechanical, and Systems EngineeringCoordinate hybrid and remote contributorsEstablish strong meeting rhythms and accountability structuresTechnical Program ExecutionTrack action items across 400 parts and system-level dependenciesSupport DFMEA processes and design reviewsFacilitate APQP and DFM feedback loopsHelp optimize Gen1 product design for manufacturing readinessExecutive CommunicationConsolidate complex engineering updates into clear dashboards and executive summariesPrepare weekly read-outs (Tuesday–Friday cadence)Translate technical risks into actionable leadership insightsTools & Process ManagementDrive program tracking using JIRA, Atlassian Suite, Confluence, and Google WorkspaceImplement structured engineering process discipline across teamsRequired QualificationsStrong background in product design and manufacturing (EV industry preferred)Experience with APQP, Design Reviews, and DFMProven ability to synthesize complex technical data into executive-ready reporting (e.g., dashboards, pie charts, system summaries)Experience coordinating Electrical and Mechanical engineering teamsProficiency in JIRA, Confluence, and engineering workflow toolsCommercial electronics experience (required)Preferred QualificationsBattery systems or BMS experienceFamiliarity with safety, regulatory, and compliance frameworksExperience with SolidWorks and/or AltiumExposure to system-level integration and embedded firmware collaborationSuccess ProfileDay 1Build relationships with technical leadsUnderstand system architecture, ownership, and timelinesDay 30Establish program rhythm and communication cadenceAlign stakeholders on priorities and risksDay 90Lead weekly cross-functional reviewsDeliver polished executive read-outsEnsure technical risks and design gaps are visible and managed6 MonthsFully embedded in engineering executionDriving alignment, accelerating decisions, and strengthening reporting disciplineWhat Sets Top Performers ApartProactive, self-starting leadershipClear, structured communicationAbility to distill 400 parts and complex system updates into a single executive slideStrong presence with both engineers and executivesHiring Process2 interview rounds (including Electrical and Mechanical Engineering managers in Berkeley)Urgent hire due to stretched TPM resourcesOne candidate currently scheduled; additional candidates being reviewedCompany DescriptionPutting people at the forefront is our priority at Technical Talent Group.
