Industrial Hygiene Associate
Houston, Texas AreaTechnical Environmental Services, Inc.
Technical Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Associate to support our client base in the Houston and Southeast Texas industrial market.
For over 40 years, TES has supported refineries, chemical plants, LNG facilities, manufacturing operations, hospitals, schools, and commercial clients with technically sound industrial hygiene, environmental, and safety services. Our work is built on responsiveness, technical accuracy, and a commitment to protecting people and the environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys field work, problem solving, client interaction, and learning the technical side of industrial hygiene. The Industrial Hygiene Associate will support exposure assessments, air monitoring, noise surveys, asbestos and lead-related projects, indoor air quality investigations, water sampling, and other occupational/environmental health projects.
This position will primarily support clients in the Houston, Southeast Texas, and Gulf Coast markets. Some travel outside the Houston area will be required and may include day trips, overnight assignments, and multi-day project support depending on client needs.
What You’ll Do
The Industrial Hygiene Associate will assist with field investigations, sampling events, data collection, documentation, and project support. Work may include air sampling for chemical exposures, noise dosimetry, sound level surveys, ventilation observations, asbestos and lead inspections, mold and indoor air quality assessments, Legionella and water quality sampling, and general EHS field support.
You will work directly with experienced industrial hygienists, project managers, and technical leaders. This is a field-forward role, so attention to detail, reliability, professionalism, and clear communication matter. The data you collect will be used to help clients make decisions that protect employees, maintain compliance, and reduce risk.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is dependable, curious, technically minded, and comfortable working in industrial environments. You need to show up prepared, follow instructions, document your work clearly, and care about accuracy.
A strong candidate will have experience or education in industrial hygiene, occupational safety, environmental science, chemistry, biology, public health, engineering, or a related field. Prior experience in refineries, chemical plants, LNG facilities, construction, manufacturing, or consulting is a plus.
Travel Expectations
This position is based in the Houston area and will primarily support clients in Houston, Southeast Texas, and the surrounding industrial market. Some travel outside the Houston market will be required to support TES clients in other parts of Texas, Louisiana, and the broader Gulf Coast region.
Candidates should be comfortable with occasional overnight travel, early-morning project starts, and field assignments that may vary based on client schedules and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with industrial hygiene sampling, air monitoring equipment, noise dosimetry, direct-reading instruments, asbestos or lead inspections, indoor air quality assessments, or environmental sampling is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, TWIC, asbestos inspector, lead inspector/risk assessor, HAZWOPER, or other safety/environmental credentials are also a plus.
The Right Fit
This is not a desk-only job. You may be working inside operating facilities, walking units, climbing stairs, wearing PPE, collecting samples, documenting conditions, coordinating with clients, and supporting projects that require precision. Some assignments may require travel outside the Houston area.
The right person will be professional with clients, coachable with senior staff, organized with documentation, and serious about safety. We want someone who can grow into a stronger consultant over time.
