  • This Is an Exceptional Opportunity for the Right Instructor

HVAC INSTRUCTOR — TECHNICAL ARTS CENTER

Help Build the Next Generation of Truck-Ready™ HVAC Technicians

Pay: $40–$50 per hour

Technical Arts Center (TAC), a leading HVAC industry Skill Building Center, is seeking an experienced HVAC Instructor to join our training team.

This is not simply a position teaching students how HVAC equipment works.

At TAC, our goal is to develop Truck-Ready™ technicians who understand HVAC systems, know how to diagnose problems logically, communicate professionally, and confidently know what to do next when they arrive at a service call.

Our proven curriculum and training processes have helped hundreds of technicians develop the technical knowledge, diagnostic skills, and confidence necessary to succeed in the HVAC industry.

We are looking for an instructor who can help us continue that mission.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate has extensive real-world HVAC experience and a deep understanding of residential HVAC systems, service, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.

You must have the technical knowledge and field experience necessary to confidently answer challenging technical questions and, just as importantly, be able to explain those answers in a way students can understand.

You should be comfortable teaching and discussing topics including:

  • HVAC electrical systems and troubleshooting
  • Refrigeration and the refrigeration cycle
  • Airflow and system performance
  • Air conditioning systems
  • Heat pumps
  • Gas heating
  • Controls, motors, capacitors, relays, contactors, and electrical components
  • Systematic troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Proper use of HVAC tools and test instruments
  • Real-world service-call procedures and problem solving
  • HVAC safety and professional field practices

THIS POSITION REQUIRES MORE THAN TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

A great technician does not automatically make a great instructor.

We are looking for someone who can communicate, teach, demonstrate, coach, and help students understand why they are doing something—not simply tell them what to do.

You must be:

  • An excellent communicator
  • A strong problem solver
  • Patient and comfortable working with students at different skill levels
  • A team player
  • Clean-cut and professional in appearance
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Organized and prepared
  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision
  • Willing to follow an established and proven TAC curriculum and instructional process

OUR CURRICULUM IS ALREADY BUILT

You will not be expected to create a training program from scratch.

TAC has developed a structured curriculum and repeatable training process that has successfully helped hundreds of technicians advance in the HVAC industry.

We want your experience, technical knowledge, personality, and teaching ability—but we also need someone who understands the importance of following a proven process and working as part of a team.

HVAC FIELD EXPERIENCE IS ESSENTIAL

This is a technical instructor position.

Candidates should have substantial hands-on HVAC experience and be able to confidently troubleshoot HVAC problems and explain their diagnostic reasoning.

If a student asks a difficult technical question, we expect our instructors to have the knowledge and experience to help that student work through the answer.

Previous teaching experience is helpful, but strong HVAC technical knowledge, communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to teach others are more important.

COMPENSATION

$40–$50 per hour, depending on experience, technical knowledge, and instructional ability.

WHY JOIN TECHNICAL ARTS CENTER?

There are plenty of places where someone can learn a little about HVAC equipment.

TAC is different.

Our mission is to develop valuable, Truck-Ready™ HVAC professionals who are prepared to contribute when they enter the field—not simply become inexperienced ride-along trainees.

If you have spent years developing your HVAC knowledge and would enjoy passing that knowledge on to the next generation of technicians, we would like to talk with you.

APPLY TODAY

Please submit your resume along with a brief description of your HVAC background, including your experience in service, troubleshooting, diagnostics, installation, and/or technical training.
