Overview:
The Transportation Specialist shall provide for the arrangement of material movement of commercial carrier pick-up and delivery, for the Defense Logistics Agency
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepares staging labels to be placed on cargo, ensuring it is loaded in the proper equipment.
- Assigns seal number to each domestic shipment to ensure the cargo is secure and not tampered with while in transit.
- Monitors shipment from time the driver leaves the warehouse until receipt of shipment at destination.
- Processed Bill of lading is signed once the bolted seal is placed in the door of the equipment.
- Ensures that all domestic shipments are noted on the weekly, monthly, and yearly reports.
- Maintains spreadsheet on domestic shipment reports for accountability.
- Signs proof of delivery from the receiver on the delivery date.
Education and/or Experience:
- Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) experience preferred
- High School diploma/ Bachelor's Degree preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Driving may be necessary
- Ability to work as a team member
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude towards work and the team
- Ability to operate forklift, stock selector
