Job Summary

The Shipping/Receiving Associate performs receiving, material handling and inventory management activities. They maintain records for incoming shipments of materials and supplies required for manufacturing products. They store and distribute material, tools, equipment and products within the warehouse and throughout the plant, ensuring inventory availability and accuracy. In addition, they prepare items for shipment by performing the following duties in accordance with established policies and standards.

  • Prepare products and other items for shipment following established procedures for packaging, crating, boxing, bundling, wrapping, strapping, and labeling.
  • Inspect freight upon arrival, document any signs of damage, and resolve freight claims in a timely manner.
  • Verify receipt of purchased goods from suppliers, locate product, process paperwork and complete all necessary MRP transactions according to established procedures.
  • Pick parts and products from appropriate inventory locations in specified quantities as necessary to fill orders by following established procedures.
  • Visually monitor inventory levels and communicate low levels to buyers, schedulers, and others as necessary.
  • Cycle count inventory according to established guidelines and assist with developing actions to correct inventory problems.
  • Complete inventory transactions to receive and issue inventory as required.
  • Operate lift trucks and other equipment to move parts to proper locations and load and unload freight trucks as necessary.
  • Properly identify and locate all parts according to established procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned


Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED or Vocational School equivalent Required: Understands basic safety standards and policies
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in shipping/receiving/inventory role; preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office and navigating web based customer interfaces
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to follow oral and detailed written instructions
  • Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other tools as needed to perform essential job duties
  • Forklift experience and certification (preferred)


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle and feel material, as well as reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
