What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) position at TechMind RPO?
You will oversee the design of HVAC, plumbing, and (in some cases) fire protection systems, while mentoring engineers at all levels. As the Department Head, you may also serve as the Engineer of Record, ensuring technical accuracy and design excellence across assigned projects.
What You Will Do
- Lead, mentor, and develop Mechanical Design staff within the office/division
- Provide technical oversight for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design
- Collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams throughout all phases of design and construction
- Manage workload planning, staff scheduling, and cross-training efforts
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing/selection, ductwork and piping design
- Oversee creation of construction documents, specifications, and analysis studies
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
- Provide quality review and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and best practices
- Act as Engineer of Record for mechanical aspects of assigned projects
- Participate in bidding, procurement, and construction administration activities
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Previous engineering experience within mechanical building systems
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and related systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and guide technical staff
- Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative mindset—willing to both teach and learn from team members
