Techman Sales, Inc.
Plymouth, MI Full Time
POSTED ON 5/22/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 6/18/2026

Techman Sales Inc. is a global business development organization that delivers technical, engineered product solutions to OEMs and major Tier suppliers across the Automotive, Industrial, Heavy Truck, and Appliance industries.

We represent a selected group of well-known national and international manufacturers. Our product portfolio includes castings, forgings, precision-machined components, wiring harnesses, automotive lighting assemblies, electric motors, electro-mechanical and mechanical assemblies, and specialized tooling.

We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and technically proficient Technical Sales Engineer to join our team. Positions are open at both our Plymouth, MI and Mansfield, Ohio locations.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Technical Sales Engineer drives growth by building strategic partnerships and advancing program development and the sale of our Principals’ products into applications at their target customers.

The ideal candidate holds an engineering degree and has a minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales or program management with an OEM or major Tier supplier in the Automotive or Industrial sectors. The role demands a self-starter who thrives alongside a team of highly motivated individuals in a fast-paced environment. Experience developing and executing sales and business strategy for an engineered product is a strong asset.

  • Call on existing and prospective customers, identify their needs, and provide solutions drawn from our Principals’ manufacturing capabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations that demonstrate the benefits of our Principals’ products and services to prospective customers.
  • Organize and support customer visits.
  • Prepare proposals, quotation packages, and sales reports.
  • Negotiate pricing, timing, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Collaborate with the design, production, and engineering teams at both customers and Principals to understand requirements and provide sales support.
  • Recommend improved materials or machinery, demonstrating how the changes lower cost or increase production.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and industry meetings.
  • Provide post-sales program management through launch and beyond.

Key Skills

  • Technical fluency. Deep working knowledge of the sophisticated products we sell — enough to explain their advantages and answer detailed engineering questions.
  • Communication. Clear explanation, active listening, and the ability to relay customer feedback accurately to our Principals.
  • Negotiation and influence. Comfort working through complex commercial discussions to mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Sales drive. The instinct to recognize an opportunity and the persistence to pursue it, positioning our Principals’ products to win over the competition.
  • Self-direction. Able to work effectively and productively with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 2 years of sales or program management experience in the major appliance, automotive, industrial, or heavy truck industries.
  • Proven track record analyzing market opportunities and securing new business for technical products.
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing practices and new-product launch processes, including APQP, PPAP, and standard product qualification protocols.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and part drawings, and assess them for manufacturability.
  • Technical background in the metals industry is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with comfort working across cultures (international experience a plus).

Perks

  • Competitive base compensation with performance-based incentives.
  • Comprehensive health and retirement benefits, including medical, life insurance, long-term disability, and a 401(k) plan.
  • Paid vacation and holidays.
  • Company-provided mobile phone and monthly vehicle allowance.
