What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medicaid clerk position at Techflairs Inc?
The contractor will support the Medicaid Branch of the Health Care Policy and Research Administration in its processing of Medicaid LTSS applications and renewals. This position will provide essential administrative, operational, and programmatic support to ensure effective coordination, communication, and documentation of activities related to dual eligible initiatives.
The contractor shall have a basic foundation of administrative concepts and practices sufficient to enable incumbent to recommend changes in administrative policies, devise and install procedures and office practices, and foresee administrative problems and requirement.
The Contractor shall have general knowledge of current Windows Applications and knowledge of on- line computer operation (ability to enter system, search and print appropriate information and ability to input information e.g., vouchers, requisitions, actions, etc.
The Contractor shall answer and direct phone calls, make phone calls, take and distribute messages, organizing and scheduling appointments, organize and coordinate meetings, handle inquiries and incoming work requests, reviewing files and records to answer requests for information, check and distributing documents and correspondence, receive, sort and distribute incoming mail, maintain filing systems, compiling records of office activities such as photocopying, scanning and faxing, sending emails, preparing and sending outgoing mailings and packages, typing documents and correspondence, checking and entering data, updating and maintaining databases.
Thorough knowledge of and understanding of public assistance programs in the District or Medicaid, especially Long Term Services and Supports.
Ability to track applications, renewals, and work related to LTSS eligibility.
Demonstrated ability to navigate and use complex software applications (e.g., business applications, customer relationship management software and databases, MS Office) to document and obtain information and/or to create and maintain reports.
Ability to absorb and retain information about new systems, policies, and procedures.
Ability to review case history and previous case notes to understand and fully address customer issues, as well as minimize transfers to other teams.
Knowledge and experience using office equipment such as computers, scanning equipment, call center telephony equipment, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing, in order to clearly, courteously and effectively explain complex policy and procedures to the general public and document information extracted during customer interactions.
Knowledge and skill related to effective interviewing techniques to extract factual information with tact and professionalism.
Ability to use subject matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence.
Ability to select from alternative methods and refer to problems not solvable by adapting or interpreting substantive guides, manuals, or procedures.
Ability to complete administrative tasks as directed and quickly.
Minimum of three (2) years of relevant administrative or clerical experience, preferably in a health care or human services environment.
