Job Description
The Fiber Cable Technician role at Techcom LLC is an on-site position supporting projects in Monroe, Petoskey/Northern Michigan, Howell/Fowlerville, and Byron Center/Grand Haven, MI.
This is not an entry-level position. Ideal candidates are self-sufficient, reliable, and able to begin work immediately with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Cable Technician (required)
- Fiber experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently without full training
- Must have reliable transportation (preferred: own vehicle)
- Must have own tools and equipment (ladder, meter, basic install tools preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, punctual, and ready to start immediately
- Must be authorized to work as a 1099 independent contractor
Responsibilities
- Perform cable installations, service calls, trouble calls, and reconnects
- Diagnose and resolve signal and service issues
- Install, replace, and configure equipment as needed
- Communicate professionally with customers and dispatch teams
- Accurately submit job notes, photos, and closeout documentation
- Follow all safety protocols and quality standards
