What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Line Tech position at TechBridge?
Perform advanced diagnostics on a wide variety of vehicle makes and models to identify and source all engine-related failures.
Utilize scanners, scopes, and other diagnostic tools to analyze fault codes, live data streams, and electrical systems.
Efficiently and safely perform all "heavy line" tasks, including engine, transmission, and differential removal and re-installation.
Disassemble long blocks and prepare components for our machine shop.
Re-install remanufactured engines and transmissions, ensuring all connections, wiring, and systems are set to factory specifications.
Conduct final quality control tests, including road tests, to verify that all diagnostic issues have been resolved and the vehicle operates perfectly.
Clearly document all diagnostic steps, findings, and completed repairs.
Collaborate with service advisors and the machine shop team to ensure a seamless workflow and excellent customer service.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a heavy line automotive technician.
Proven, expert-level skills in engine and electrical diagnostics, including "check engine light" and drivability problems.
Extensive experience with engine/transmission R&R (Removal and Re-installation) on a variety of domestic and import vehicles.
Proficiency with modern diagnostic scan tools and equipment.
Strong understanding of internal engine mechanics and powertrain systems.
A complete set of personal tools to perform all related tasks.
Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
Preferred (Not Required):
ASE Master Technician Certification (A1-A8) is highly desired.
Specific experience in an engine rebuilding or remanufacturing environment.
Ability to work on a diverse range of vehicles, including light-duty trucks.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
