Position Responsibilities And Expectations
- Design and develop complete security installation solutions in consultation with customers to ensure stated and unstated needs are fully understood and addressed.
- Prepare functional proposals, budgets, and detailed design packages for new installation projects, including system layouts, components, drawings, and precise installation locations for use by technicians and project managers.
- Identify opportunities for additional business by assessing customer needs, recommending improvements or expansions to existing systems, and presenting advancements in technology.
- Create detailed system designs such as drawings, schematics, and equipment layouts for electronic security projects.
- Interpret customer requirements, construction documents, and project specifications to develop compliant, cost-effective system designs.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Project Management to ensure design accuracy, alignment with scope, and adherence to budget.
- Prepare complete submittal documentation, including CAD drawings, wiring diagrams, bill of materials, and supporting technical information.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, industry standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging security technologies, design principles, and best practices.
- Assist with value engineering and design optimization to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance system performance.
- EDUCATION
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field is preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
- PSP or CPP certifications are encouraged but not required.
- EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in estimating, system design, or field installation of electronic security or low-voltage systems.
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and strong general computer skills.
- Demonstrated experience with key business and security design platforms, including NetSuite, SiteOwl, and similar tools.
- Comprehensive understanding of integrated electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and related technologies.
- Hands-on experience with widely used security industry platforms (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Honeywell).
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as NFPA, NEC, and UL.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with accuracy, efficiency, and sound judgment.
- Effective time-management capabilities, with the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and professionally with Tech Systems’ staff, customers, and prospective clients.

- DRIVER’S LICENSE
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must maintain a driving record satisfactorily to Tech Systems’ automobile insurance carrier.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS This role is primarily remote/office-based; however, travel to client sites is required for design validation, meetings, or assessments. Duties involve walking with the client and at construction sites. Physical conditions for system design include intermittent physical activity, including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting. Driving and travel are essential and expected elements of the job.
