Job Summary

Tech Stop, a growing IT and technical support provider in Madera, is looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial IT Operations Manager.

This is a hands-on hybrid role perfect for a technical expert who is also a highly organized self-starter. This position is ideal for someone who wants to take ownership of our IT repair division and rebuild it from the ground up.

You will be responsible for managing and performing all aspects of the repair service pipeline, from customer intake and hands-on repairs to parts management and client outreach.

A Note on Our Hours & This Role

We are rebuilding our IT division, and we want you to lead it. This position will begin as Part-Time (approx. 20-25 hours/week) to match the current workload.

The role has a direct path to Full-Time (40 hours/week) based on clear, achievable growth milestones. The ideal candidate is excited by the opportunity to grow the client base and, in doing so, build their own full-time, long-term position.

Work Environment & Location

This is a hybrid position with two primary work locations:

  • Remote (Home Office): You will handle administrative duties, client communications, remote support tickets, and parts ordering from your home office.
  • In-Person (Madera Workshop): You will be required to work from our Madera-based workshop for all hands-on device repairs, diagnostics, and inventory management.

Important Note on Our Workshop: Our current in-person office is a private, furnished, and climate-controlled operations hub (approx. 10x12). It is a secure workshop for technical work, not a public-facing retail storefront. Customer device drop-offs and pickups are handled by appointment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations Management: Manage the end-to-end repair workflow, including ticketing, customer communication, and service timelines.
  • Hands-on Repair: Perform expert diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of desktops, laptops (Windows, macOS, Linux), smartphones (iOS, Android), tablets, and other electronics.
  • Business Development: Actively work to rebuild the repair division's client base through local outreach and excellent service.
  • Client Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for repair clients, providing clear estimates, status updates, and excellent service.
  • Inventory & Parts: Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies; source and order parts as needed for repairs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all repairs, parts used, and customer interactions in our ticketing system.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Proven professional experience in repairing a wide range of electronics (computers, phones, tablets).
  • Strong diagnostic skills for both hardware and software issues.
  • Expertise across multiple operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android).
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple repairs and priorities.
  • Strong self-motivation, reliability, and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Professional and clear communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet, private space for remote work.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have):

  • Experience with micro-soldering and board-level repair.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A , Apple Certified Mac Technician, etc.).
  • Previous experience in a lead technician or operations management role.
  • Familiarity with billing or ticket management software.
