Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our surgical team for a 13-week assignment. This role requires a highly skilled RN with strong clinical judgment, leadership abilities, and a commitment to patient safety and quality care. The position involves 8-hour day shifts with weekend, holiday, and on-call responsibilities (30-minute response time). Candidates must reside within a 60-mile radius and meet all licensing and certification requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in the Operating Room and Ambulatory Surgery Unit (OR/ASU)
• Assess patient needs including clinical, educational, emotional, and spiritual aspects
• Ensure a safe and aseptic environment using appropriate clinical equipment and instrumentation
• Interpret lethal dysrhythmias and respond appropriately
• Recognize and address safety concerns for patients and staff, including safe patient handling
• Function effectively under pressure and in high-stress situations
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Prioritize tasks and delegate responsibilities as needed
• May serve as charge nurse when required
• Participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call rotations

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Current NYS RN license or eligibility
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Successful completion of final exam required for employment
• Minimum one year of medical/surgical nursing experience preferred
• Preceptorship, charge nurse experience, and leadership skills preferred for experienced RNs
• Thorough knowledge of nursing principles and patient care standards
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Proficiency in using clinical equipment in OR/ASU settings
• Must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility
