Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM
Pay Rate: $18.13 per hour

About the Role

We have an urgent onsite opening for a Health Plan Referral Specialist with Christus Health in Irving, TX. The ideal candidate will have medical terminology knowledge, referral processing experience, and strong attention to detail.

You will be responsible for processing referral authorizations, verifying eligibility, entering data into the system, and ensuring timely communication with patients and providers.

Responsibilities

• Process referral authorization requests through the Managed Care System.
• Review requests for completeness, eligibility, chart availability, and benefits.
• Accurately enter referral information into the computer using correct system codes (type, status, procedure, etc.).
• Document authorizations and maintain accurate tracking of services.
• Notify patients and providers of authorization decisions.
• Generate and use system reports to support daily tasks and referral activity.
• Research and resolve problem referral claims or payment requests.
• Maintain workflow and turnaround times for all referrals.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (must submit proof of education).
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and CPT codes.
• Strong typing and computer skills.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital, physician office, or managed care organization.
• Experience in referral processing, authorization workflows, or member services preferred.
