Salary Range: $90k - $100k
Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a Utility Coordinator to join their Columbia office. Under moderate supervision, the successful candidate will perform utility coordination duties, including contacting and directing utility owners’ relocation efforts during the planning and design phases of roadway and bridge improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze survey data, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) plans, and other topographical information such as hydraulics and utility relocation designs.
- Organize and review design information from multiple utility sources for accuracy and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Conduct meetings to support schedule milestones and project progress.
- Prepare “Utility by Others” plans and related documents using computer-assisted engineering and design software.
- Develop and maintain favorable relationships with utility companies, DOTs, counties, and municipal agencies.
- Travel up to 10% for project needs, depending on workload.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, and other design software.
- Strong oral and written communication, including technical writing skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Utility coordination and construction inspection experience in South or North Carolina, particularly with SCDOT or NCDOT.
- 2–4 years of experience in utility coordination and/or design.
- Advanced education in related fields is a plus.
