What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Reporting Analyst position at Tech Pipeline?
Tech Pipeline helps operational teams resolve the practical friction in their day-to-day processes by digging into data logs and fixing broken systems. Our client is a global enterprise that needs help untangling its daily supply chain reporting so internal teams can make decisions using accurate numbers. We are looking for a Junior Reporting Analyst to join our team, helping us trace data mismatches and build reliable reporting pipelines that operators can run on their own.
About the role
When data pipelines break, operations teams are left guessing. In this role, you will help us address the gap between raw database entries and clean, actionable business reports. Our client's teams are currently spending hours reconciling numbers in spreadsheets by hand because their reporting tools do not align. You will work alongside our implementation teams to open the system, run diagnostic queries, and write simple SQL scripts to find where the data goes bad. This is a hybrid position where you will spend a couple of days a week in our office space and the rest of the week working remotely. It provides an excellent transition for a junior analyst who wants to gain hands-on experience with real data systems while benefiting from face-to-face coaching and team collaboration.
What you will be doing
We value clear documentation and ground truth over long meetings and slide decks. Our team uses weekly written updates to share progress, which keeps our schedules clear of unnecessary status calls and allows us to focus on doing the work. When we meet in person, we focus on untangling specific system bottlenecks and working through design questions together. We try to leave every system we touch in a state where client operators can manage it beautifully without us, and we apply that same spirit of simplicity and independence to how we work as a team.

What you will be doing
- Write and run basic SQL queries to extract data from various operational backlogs and databases.
- Read through system logs to trace the path and source of truth of corrupted or missing reporting data.
- Verify daily reconciliations between old legacy databases and new reporting tools to make sure the numbers stop drifting.
- Update standard operating procedures and documentation so the client team can easily run the reports themselves.
- Build and clean up basic data dashboards using tools like Power BI or Looker Studio.
- Coordinate with client operators to understand which reports are failing and identify the specific integration gaps causing the friction.
- Basic familiarity with SQL, including the ability to write SELECT statements and simple joins.
- Strong attention to detail, specifically the patience to compare large spreadsheets and identify minor discrepancies.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical client operators.
- A practical approach to solving problems, focusing on finding simple fixes rather than theoretical designs.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setup, managing your time well between on-site collaboration and home office focus.
- A degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent self-taught practical experience.
- Some exposure to enterprise databases or ERP systems like SAP or NetSuite.
- Basic scripting knowledge, such as writing simple Python scripts to clean up data tables.
- Previous experience in a customer service or office administrative role where you had to manage operational data.
- Attractive, competitive pay that reflects your practical skills and helps you launch your data career.
- Direct mentoring from experienced systems engineers who will help you build your technical abilities.
- Exposure to complex operational puzzles across multiple departments and industries.
- A hybrid schedule that balances flexible remote work with structured in-person collaboration.
- Proper hardware and setup provided to ensure you have what you need to do your work smoothly.
