Tech Elevate is a premier training initiative delivered through a strategic collaboration between Tech Frontier and Workforce Solutions Borderplex. The program’s mission is to empower military spouses by providing high-quality technical training, culminating in the CompTIA Tech (FC0-U71) credential—a foundational certification that validates digital literacy and technical competence in today’s modern workforce.
The IT Instruction Specialist will serve as a vital support system for the Tech Elevate program. Reporting to the Lead Instructor, you will assist in the development of curriculum materials, facilitate in-person and digital content delivery, and provide one-on-one mentorship to students. This role is ideal for a technical professional with a passion for education and a commitment to supporting the military community.
- Curriculum & Content Support: Assist the Lead Instructor in adapting CompTIA Tech objectives into engaging lesson plans, including hands-on labs and practice evaluations.
- Instructional Delivery: Lead breakout sessions or co-teach modules during in-person classes, ensuring complex technical concepts are accessible to learners with diverse backgrounds.
- Student Mentorship: Provide direct assistance to students during lab exercises, offering troubleshooting guidance and clarifying technical queries.
- Evaluation & Assessment: Assist in grading assignments, proctoring practice exams, and tracking student progress to ensure high pass rates for the FC0-U71 exam.
- Program Coordination: Work closely with Tech Frontier and Workforce Solutions Borderplex staff to ensure all instructional resources (software, hardware, and classroom tools) are prepared for each session.
- Duration: July 17, 2026 through September 24, 2026
- Training Location: Microsoft El Paso Innovation Hub, 500 W Overland Drive Suite 210, El Paso, TX 79901
- Time Commitment: 120 total hours (90 hours of in-person instruction 30 hours of prep/outside class time).
- Schedule: In-person sessions are held every Tuesday and Friday (10am - 1pm MT).
- Compensation: $25 per hour (Total stipend capped at $3,000).
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in the IT industry.
- Certification: Must hold at least one active CompTIA certification (e.g., A , Network , Security , or Tech ).
- Military Community Connection: Preference will be given to military veterans or individuals with significant experience working with military families.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Proficiency in the following CompTIA Tech domains:
- Infrastructure: Hardware components, networking basics, and cloud/virtualization concepts.
- Applications: Operating systems, software types, and web browser configuration.
- Software Development: Basic programming concepts (variables, logic) and scripting.
- Database Fundamentals: Relational vs. non-relational structures and basic data management.
- Security: Cybersecurity best practices, encryption, and risk identification.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain "tech-speak" in plain language.
- Familiarity with the CompTIA troubleshooting methodology.
- Previous teaching experience is a plus.
