Position Summary
The Fire Alarm & Security Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, inspection, and service of fire alarm, access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, and other low-voltage systems. This position works closely with project managers, customers, and fellow technicians to deliver high-quality systems that protect lives and property.
What You'll Do
- Install, terminate, program, test, and commission fire alarm and electronic security systems.
- Service and troubleshoot fire alarm, access control, CCTV/video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
- Perform inspections, testing, preventative maintenance, and repairs in accordance with applicable codes and manufacturer specifications.
- Interpret construction drawings, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, and project documentation.
- Verify system functionality through testing and ensure installations meet project specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, electricians, contractors, and customers throughout project execution.
- Document service work, deficiencies, system changes, and completed tasks using company software.
- Train customers on the operation of installed systems.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, test equipment, and inventory.
- Follow all OSHA, NFPA, NEC, local code, and company safety requirements.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
Required Qualifications
- Experience installing or servicing fire alarm and/or electronic security systems.
- Working knowledge of low-voltage wiring practices and installation standards.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely use ladders, lifts, and hand tools.
- Willingness to travel locally to customer sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Fire Alarm Certification (Level I-IV).
- Experience with one or more major manufacturers such as Siemens, Edwards, Notifier, Silent Knight, Bosch, Honeywell, LenelS2, Genetec, Avigilon, Axis, or Verkada.
- State fire alarm or security licensing where applicable.
- Manufacturer certifications in fire alarm, access control, or video systems.
- Experience with IP networking and basic networking concepts.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and work in mechanical spaces.
