Join Tecan as a Supply Chain Engineering Manager, where you'll play a critical role in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), driving supplier performance, and ensuring manufacturing readiness from product launch through full-scale production.

In this role, you'll serve as the technical bridge between customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams, leading engineering initiatives that improve quality, reduce cost, mitigate supply chain risk, and enable successful product commercialization. You'll collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Program Management, Planning, and Purchasing to deliver innovative solutions that support business growth and customer success.

If you're a technically driven problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys influencing cross-functional teams, and is passionate about continuous improvement, we'd love to hear from you.

How Will You Make an Impact?

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Program Management, Planning, and Purchasing to support production and product lifecycle objectives.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between Tecan, customers, and suppliers to identify and resolve Design for Manufacturing (DFM) opportunities.
  • Manage assigned commodities including machined components, sheet metal, mechanical assemblies, plastics, cable assemblies, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and related suppliers.
  • Develop and execute commodity strategies that improve supplier performance, quality, delivery, and total cost.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives that deliver measurable value while maintaining quality and supply continuity.
  • Evaluate, qualify, and recommend suppliers during quoting, NPI, production transfers, and manufacturing scale-up activities.
  • Support supplier transitions, tooling implementation, First Article Inspection (FAI), and production readiness for new programs.
  • Provide technical expertise for supplier selection, manufacturing process improvements, tooling development, and strategic engineering projects.
  • Resolve supplier-related issues impacting production, including quality concerns, material shortages, delivery delays, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies that protect production schedules and revenue objectives.
  • Evaluate supplier business proposals and recommend solutions that improve cost, quality, delivery, and overall business performance.
  • Support supplier qualification activities and ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Build collaborative relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders through effective communication and technical leadership.
  • Influence cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Travel periodically to supplier and customer locations to support technical reviews, supplier development, and manufacturing readiness activities.

What You Bring

  • Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Proven supplier development, supplier management, and technical problem-solving experience.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to think strategically while executing day-to-day operational priorities.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional project management and execution skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on delivering customer-focused solutions.
  • Adaptability and resilience in rapidly changing business environments.
