Position Overview

tec5USA is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Production Specialist – Assembler to join our production team. Reporting to the Head of Production, this individual will be responsible for assembling scientific-grade spectrometer systems, including optical, electronic, and mechanical components, while ensuring exceptional quality and adherence to manufacturing procedures.

The ideal candidate possesses strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and experience working with precision electro-mechanical assemblies. This role supports the manufacturing of both standard and custom OEM products while maintaining compliance with company quality standards and ISO procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assemble scientific-grade spectrometer systems, including optical, electronic, fiber-optic, and mechanical components, according to manufacturing work instructions.
  • Assemble precision electro-mechanical subassemblies while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Perform soldering of through-hole and surface-mount (SMD) electronic components as required.
  • Manufacture and modify accessory cables by crimping, terminating, and soldering connectors and wiring.
  • Perform functional testing and basic troubleshooting of assembled products using power supplies, multimeters, and other test equipment.
  • Conduct visual inspections and verify completed assemblies meet internal quality requirements.
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Package finished products for shipment in accordance with company procedures.
  • Accurately document production activities, test results, and assembly records.
  • Identify and report non-conforming materials, components, or assemblies to the production team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized production work area.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and follow established ISO 9001 quality procedures while contributing to ISO 13485 requirements where applicable.
  • Collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and quality personnel to resolve assembly and manufacturing issues.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity for assembling small, precision components.
  • Knowledge of handling sensitive electronic, optical, and mechanical components.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, soldering equipment, crimping tools, and other electro-mechanical assembly equipment.
  • Familiarity with basic electronic test equipment, including power supplies and multimeters.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to accurately document work performed.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical school certification or associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in precision mechanical, electro-mechanical, or electronics assembly.
  • Experience working in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience assembling scientific instruments, medical devices, or similar precision products is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary: $45,000-$55,000.

  • Annual bonus potential based on KPIs and individual performance
  • Paid Time Off:
  • Vacation: 11 days during the first year, increasing annually up to a maximum of 21 days
  • 5 Personal/Sick Days

  • Paid company shutdown from December 25 through January 2
