About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Tool Maker to support production by designing, building, and maintaining fixtures, tooling, and prototype components. This role requires hands-on machining experience, strong blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting various departments across the shop.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build fixtures used throughout the production floor.
• Manufacture prototype parts based on engineering sketches and drawings.
• Analyze blueprints to determine fixture and tooling requirements.
• Set up and operate machine tools such as surface grinders, vertical mills, lathes, and heat-treat ovens.
• Troubleshoot die issues on punch press machinery.
• Submit purchase requisitions for outside services (Wire EDM, grinding, die sets, etc.).
• Test and inspect fixtures using sample parts and templates.
• Complete first-article inspections and required paperwork.
• Communicate with outside vendors regarding tooling and machining needs.
• Collaborate with supervisors and engineering to meet tooling, fixturing, and die requirements.
• Track tooling projects, repairs, and progress.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of Tool Maker/Journeyman experience required.
• Strong ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
• Proficient in machining operations and tool room equipment.
• Solid understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and measurement tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot dies, fixtures, and machining issues.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for most of the shift.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing environment with moderate noise.
• Hands-on machining and physical activity required throughout the shift.
