Regional Electrical Engineering Department Manager
Lead a team of 20 electrical engineers and designers supporting complex life sciences projects throughout the Northeast. What You'll Do
Lead & Develop Teams
- Lead, mentor, and grow a regional electrical engineering department of approximately 20 engineers and designers.
- Drive employee development, coaching, performance management, and career growth.
- Manage staffing, workload balancing, and resource planning across multiple projects.
- Lead department meetings and help shape regional engineering strategy.
Partner with Clients
- Build trusted relationships with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences clients.
- Participate in feasibility studies, conceptual design, and project planning.
- Prepare project proposals, staffing plans, technical reports, and cost estimates.
- Support projects from concept through construction.
Provide Technical Leadership
- Oversee the design and review of complex building electrical systems, including:
- Medium- and low-voltage power distribution
- UPS and emergency power systems
- Generator systems
- Lighting systems
- Grounding systems
- Heat tracing systems
- Ensure compliance with NEC (NFPA 70) and applicable building codes.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Drive Regional Success
- Partner with senior leadership on workforce planning and departmental strategy.
- Coordinate engineering resources across the Northeast region.
- Identify staffing needs, technical risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative engineering culture.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- 15 years of electrical engineering and building systems design experience
- Proven experience designing commercial or industrial building electrical systems
Strong knowledge of:
- Medium- and low-voltage power systems
- UPS and emergency power systems
- Generator systems
- Lighting design
- Grounding systems
- Heat tracing
- Extensive knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and applicable building codes
- Experience leading engineering teams, mentoring staff, and managing performance
- Experience with multidisciplinary engineering projects
- Strong client-facing consulting experience
- Experience developing staffing plans and engineering resource estimates
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences facilities
- Revit experience
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Salary : $162,000 - $225,000
