Summer Camp EMT
Teatown Lake Reservation, the largest community supported, non-profit environmental education center in Westchester County, New York is seeking a seasonal Summer Camp EMT to work as part of the camp team during our eight-week summer camp. This position requires an outgoing, mature, and responsible person who will provide care to campers and counselors who spend their camp days learning by exploring and developing friendships and respect for all living things. Ideal candidates will have a background as an EMT, experience working with children, and enjoy the outdoors.
Position Summary: The Summer Camp EMT is charged with providing the highest level of medical expertise at Teatown’s Summer Camp. The EMT works collaboratively with the Camp Director to provide care to campers and camp staff. Camp will take place Monday through Friday, 9am-3pm. The EMT must become familiar with our camp safety plan and trail system at Teatown and is responsible for the setup, cleanup, and maintenance of safety materials.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Abide by Teatown policies and regulations.
- Provide care for sick and injured campers.
- Respond to and provide treatment in an emergency.
- Manage first aid supplies, including EPI-Pens.
- Provide health updates to parents when necessary. Interact with campers, counselors, and directors to provide accurate information on all health-related issues.
- Review camper health records and allergy information.
- Maintain a daily camp health log and Camp Brain log.
- Maintain camper medications and doctor’s notes.
- Meet regularly with the camp directors about safety and health of campers.
- Monitor radio and Slack – respond to health-related calls.
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
- The Camp EMT is responsible for the daily health and safety of campers as specified in the camp plan.
- Must be 21 and possess a valid NYS EMT-B certification, NREMT-B or higher certification.
- Must possess a valid BLS CPR/AED card from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross with certification within the past 12 months.
- Must be able to meet physical demands of responding to emergencies on varied terrain and may be required to hike out to a camper’s location on the preserve.
- Experience working with children.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Work Schedule: This is a seasonal position of approximately 7 hours of work per day, Monday through Friday, June 29-August 21, 2026. This position will be performed in person and on-site at Teatown Lake Reservation between the hours of 8:15am - 3:30pm. On Wednesdays, the hours are 8:15am - 4:30pm to accommodate a mandatory staff meeting.
Training Plan: Attendance during 3 days of staff training during the week of June 22-June 26, 2026 will be required. EMT will review camp plan with Camp Director and participate in Epi pen training.
Benefits: Because this is a seasonal position, this position will not be eligible for Teatown’s benefits package.
Pay Rate: $175.00/day ($25.00/hr)
