Fiberglass Chop Operator

Fiberglass Manufacturer is looking for an experienced Chop Operator. Must have 2-3 years spraying fiberglass lamination or gel coat. Hours are 6:00am-until production is finished.

A chop operator is responsible for applying fiberglass and resin to molds using a chop gun, a process crucial for manufacturing spa components. This role involves setting up the lamination equipment, monitoring the process, and ensuring the quality of the finished product while adhering to safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
Using a chop gun to spray fiberglass and resin onto molds to create the desired shape and structure for spa components.
Loading and unloading materials, including fiberglass, resin, and catalysts, and ensuring proper material placement on the mold.
Inspecting the laminated product for defects, ensuring it meets quality standards, and documenting any issues.
Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting minor issues with the chop gun and other lamination equipment.
A committment to following all safety procedures and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintaining accurate records of production data and any quality control issues.
Collaborating with other members of the production team to meet production goals.

Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: Prior experience in fiberglass lamination, preferably with a chop gun, is often required.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of lamination processes, materials, and equipment.
Attention to Detail: The ability to carefully inspect products for defects and maintain consistent quality.
Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify and resolve issues with the lamination process.
Safety Awareness: A commitment to following safety procedures and wearing appropriate PPE.
In addition to these core responsibilities, the job may also involve tasks such as assisting with machine repairs, maintaining a clean work area, and training new employees.
