Infrastructure Support Technician
Location: Madison, WI
Duration: Through 6/30/2027 (extension possible)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (30-minute lunch required)
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Residency Requirement: Candidates must be current Wisconsin residents at the time of submission. No relocation permitted.
Rate: 18 /hr
Required Skills
- 3 years of experience installing, decommissioning, and troubleshooting data center IT hardware
- 3 years of experience supporting power and data cabling infrastructure within a data center environment
- 3 years of experience working with facility maintenance teams, security staff, vendors, and customers to support data center operations
- 3 years of experience supporting data distribution, power distribution, physical infrastructure, and network connectivity within a data center
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems, including:
- Feeders
- Transformers
- Generators
- Switchgear
- UPS Systems
- ATS/STS Units
- PDUs
- Chillers
- Air Handling Units
- Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools
- Experience with data center visitor management systems
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate rack installations, decommissions, migrations, and equipment deliveries
- Support and maintain server, network, storage, rack security, and power distribution infrastructure
- Perform hardware installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Assist with audits, operational readiness reviews, and compliance efforts
- Escort visitors and vendors as required
- Utilize ticketing systems, asset management tools, and infrastructure monitoring solutions
- Support capacity planning, infrastructure management, and operational monitoring
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, changes, and infrastructure activities
- Provide incident response support and communicate status updates to stakeholders
- Coordinate multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Provide guidance and support to junior team members
Ideal Background
- Experience in Data Center Operations
- Strong understanding of Physical Infrastructure, Power Management, and Network Connectivity
- Experience working in enterprise-scale data center environments
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams, vendors, facilities staff, and business stakeholders
