Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Load Planner to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating freight shipments, optimizing transportation routes, and ensuring timely delivery of goods. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with transportation management systems, and the ability to analyze data to improve supply chain efficiency. The Load Planner plays a critical role in maintaining seamless logistics operations and supporting overall supply chain objectives.
Duties
- Develop and manage transportation plans using systems such as Alvys Transportation Management, Motive, and DAT.
- Utilize GIS and GPS tools for route optimization and real-time tracking of shipments.
- Coordinate with brokers, warehouses, and dispatch teams to schedule pickups and deliveries efficiently.
- Monitor freight movements through transportation management systems and adjust plans as needed to meet deadlines.
- Maintain accurate data entry related to shipping & receiving, fleet management, and logistics activities.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners via multi-line phone systems and professional phone etiquette.
- Analyze lane data to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the supply chain.
- Support dispatching activities by coordinating freight loads, managing 3PL relationships, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
- Assist in freight documentation preparation and ensure proper shipping & receiving procedures are followed.
Skills
- Proficiency with transportation management systems such as AlvysTransportation Management, Motive, and DAT.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, freight lanes, GPS, and transportation planning principles.
- Experience with logistics, supply chain management, freight coordination, and fleet management.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret data for operational improvements.
- Effective communication skills including phone etiquette and the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Skilled in data entry, typing accuracy, and managing multi-line phone systems.
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving processes, dispatching procedures, and 3PL coordination.
