Job Function
- Aspects of adult primary medicine/management
- 5 days a week Monday through Friday, patients scheduled 8a to 12p and 1p to 5p
- APC works independently but have a physician to confer with
- Common cases: hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, obesity, degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis), tobacco and/or alcohol related issues or diseases, chronic heart and lung disease; patient population includes a mix of adult and geriatric
- Inpatient work at a teaching hospital
- Exposure to a learning environment with opportunity to attend teaching conferences to promote CME
- Flexible schedule
- Low stress, low acuity patients
- Collaboration/supervision by faculty hospitalists
- Patients who deteriorate are upgraded to another team
