What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor - Intern position at TEAM Vocational Services?
We are looking for VRC Interns to embark on a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) career. VRCs provide services to clients throughout Washington who have sustained work-related injuries and/or occupational diseases. If you are someone who thrives on bringing about positive life changes to clients, becoming a VRC may provide you with a successful and rewarding career.
As an intern, we will provide the necessary supervision, guidance and training for you to become a full fledged VRC. Your job responsibilities will include:
- Meeting with individuals who have sustained a work-related injury or occupational disease, their employers, medical providers, and legal representatives in the course of examining the employability of the individual,
- Assisting workers with return-to-work planning and the identification of resources in the community for job-placement assistance,
- At times, the VRC intern will assist the worker with securing retraining benefits, and
- Monitoring a workers participation and progress in retraining.
Job requirements include:
- BA/BS degree required
- Keyboarding skills and Microsoft Word experience
- Ability to acquire an LNI provider number
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Access to reliable transportation for work-related travel
- Must reside in WA State, or within a reasonable commuting distance
Preferred, but not necessary:
- CDMS or CRC credentials
- MA/MS degree
- Bilingual
- Experience handling Social Security, LTD, OWCP, and DBA claims
Compensation: Total annual compensation is approximately $50,000, depending on experience, education, credentials, and individual performance. Pay includes an hourly rate plus bonuses. Actual earnings will vary based on total hours worked and individual productivity.
