Job Summary:
Strong B level team with a great team bond. Very supportive, committed and respectful team parents. This group is truly one of a kind and will go on to do great things. They have won four tournament championships, three 2nd place finishes, one 3rd place finish , and one 4th place finish at the Midwest Nationals. They love to compete and refuse to lose! We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Travel Softball Head Coach to lead and develop our 11u travel softball team. Will not travel further than the Midwest. (IL, WI, IN) Weekend tournaments will run from April-July, usually two tournaments a month. Nationals in July. Nationals will be in Indiana this year. All hotel expenses will be covered by Teflon. Winter training will include Sunday team practices (2:30-5:30pm) and Pitching/Catching on Thursdays (5-7pm) from December to March. Winter training will be held at 1301 E 47th St bldg 1, Chicago, Il 60653.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sports coaching, child development, and team management, with the ability to motivate and instruct young athletes. Duties
- Plan, organize, and lead practices and games for the travel softball team, ensuring skill development and strategic play.
- Develop training sessions, emphasizing fundamentals, teamwork, grit and sportsmanship.
- Manage team logistics and communicate with parents and league officials.
- Monitor player safety during practices and games, enforcing safety protocols and injury prevention measures.
- Foster a positive team environment by promoting good behavior, discipline, and respect among players and parents.
- Implement behavior management strategies to support a respectful and inclusive team culture.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to players both on and off the field, encouraging personal growth and confidence.
- Maintain equipment, uniforms, and facilities in good condition; ensure adherence to league rules and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in travel ball, sports coaching or teaching physical education is preferred.
- Background in softball as a former player, parent or coach.
- Experience working with children or students in educational or recreational settings is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate young athletes.
- Ability to manage behavior effectively and create a positive team atmosphere.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is preferred but not required; willingness to obtain certification is a plus. Will also be required to submit a background check.
- Passion for youth development through sports with a focus on safety, fun, and skill enhancement. This role offers an engaging environment for individuals passionate about coaching youth sports while fostering leadership skills in a dynamic setting.
