Analytics Engineer

Team Red Dog is seeking a highly skilled Analytics Engineer to support a data and analytics innovator client for one of the most iconic gaming franchises in the world, Minecraft. This remote, contract role blends advanced data engineering, analytics, and business collaboration to transform large-scale gaming data into powerful insights and products used by stakeholders across the organization.Top Required Skills (Must Haves):Python – 2 years of experience using Python for large-scale data processing, transformation, and pipeline development.SQL – 2 years of experience writing complex queries to retrieve, transform, and analyze large datasets.Data Modeling – 2 years of experience designing analytical data models to support reporting, dashboards, and advanced analytics.Opportunity Overview:This role offers the opportunity to work directly with one of the most recognizable video game brands in the world. You will play a key part in shaping how data is transformed into business-driving insights that support decision-making across product, analytics, and game development teams. This position provides exposure to modern cloud data platforms, AI/ML enablement, and large-scale event and streaming data in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.How you will make an impact:• Partner closely with business stakeholders and data consumers to understand analytical needs and enable access to trusted data.• Identify and analyze structured and unstructured data from multiple sources to meet analytics and reporting requirements.• Design scalable data models and architect dataflows that evolve with changing business needs.• Build and maintain automated data pipelines that transform raw data into clean, enriched, and reliable datasets.• Develop reusable data frameworks and components to advance the analytics infrastructure.• Collaborate daily with data scientists, analysts, engineers, and game teams to deliver production-ready data products.The expertise you bring:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.• Experience working as an Analytics Engineer or Data Engineer in an enterprise environment.• Strong Python and SQL proficiency.• Hands-on experience with data modeling, data profiling, and data analysis.• Experience building cloud-based data pipelines using tools such as Spark and Airflow, with Azure preferred.• Familiarity with DevOps and DataOps practices.• Ability to work comfortably with both technical and business partners.• Experience working with large volumes of event or streaming data.• Interest in or experience with the video game industry is strongly preferred.What makes a candidate highly successful in this role:• Demonstrates curiosity, creative problem-solving, and a strong business mindset.• Clearly articulates the outcomes and business value of their work.• Balances strong engineering execution with thoughtful collaboration across technical and business teams.• Takes ownership of solutions end-to-end and proactively identifies opportunities for improvement.• Thrives in fast-moving environments and adapts quickly to changing priorities.Why Work with Team Red Dog?At Team Red Dog, people are at the heart of everything we do.
