The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) - Office of Federal Programs is recruiting for an experienced Education Program Specialist 4 - Outreach Program Specialist. Under limited supervision, the position will focus on outreach to communities, families, and local educational agencies (LEAs); increase awareness of federal programs; provide, coordinate, and review professional learning; facilitate programs, councils, and collaborative work groups; and support equitable services for private school children, educators, and families.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Research, collaborate, and analyze data to assess the effectiveness and impact of federal programs and develop communication materials (newsletters, brochures, reports, presentations) that highlight their successes and benefits
- Assist with managing and developing content for various platforms (websites, social media, newsletters) to ensure regular updates on federal programs
- Coordinate and facilitate collaborative work groups and councils (e.g., the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and the Family School Partnership Collaborative)
- Support the equitable services program by providing technical assistance, professional learning, working with the Equitable Services for Private Schools (ES4PS) online platform, and developing and testing resources
- Develop, lead, and support workshops, webinars, and other professional learning opportunities to enhance understanding of federal programs
- Work with and maintain clear and positive communication between offices, divisions, units, agencies, LEAs, community-based organizations, and families
- Stay current with federal regulations, policies, and best practices
- Ensure that federal program activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies by supporting and assisting with cross-functional monitoring
- Maintain up-to-date records and prepare accurate reports and documents related to outreach program activities
Preference will be given to candidates who meet one of more of the following:
- Hold Georgia professional educator certification
- Knowledge of state and federal guidelines, including the Every Student Succeeds Act and the Code of Federal Regulations
- Demonstrate success in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience working with communications
- Knowledge of Equitable Services for private school children, teachers, staff, and families
- Experience with planning and implementing professional learning opportunities
- Teaching and/or administrative experience in a public school or system
- Highly effective interpersonal, group, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience in data analysis and interpretation using a variety of software solutions
- Demonstrate success in self-motivation/initiative, leadership, and the continuous improvement process
- Ability to manage multiple, overlapping high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Occasional statewide travel may be required
