Job Summary
The Plumbing Install Lead is responsible for leading residential plumbing installation projects
while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, safety, customer experience, and team
leadership. This individual serves as the lead technician on installation jobs, ensuring projects
are completed efficiently, profitably, and according to company standards.
This position requires someone who takes ownership of every job, mentors apprentices and
helpers, communicates effectively with customers, and represents the company with
professionalism from start to finish.
Responsibilities
Installation Leadership
- ● Lead residential plumbing installation projects from start to completion.
- ● Install water heaters, tankless water heaters, water softeners, filtration systems, sewer
- replacements, gas piping, repipes, fixtures, and other plumbing systems.
- ● Read plans and determine proper installation methods.
- ● Ensure all installations comply with local plumbing codes and manufacturer
- specifications.
- ● Verify materials before beginning each project.
- ● Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
Team Leadership
- ● Direct apprentices and helpers throughout each installation.
- ● Train team members on proper installation procedures.
- ● Hold crew members accountable to company standards.
- ● Foster a positive, professional work environment.
- ● Lead by example in attitude, work ethic, and customer service.
- Customer Experience
- ● Clearly explain the installation process and timeline.
- ● Maintain excellent communication throughout the project.
- ● Address customer questions professionally.
- ● Protect the customer's home using floor coverings, drop cloths, and proper cleanup
- procedures.
- ● Leave every job cleaner than it was found.
Quality Control
- ● Perform final inspections before leaving every job.
- ● Test all installed systems for proper operation.
- ● Ensure work is leak-free and fully operational.
- ● Complete punch-list items before considering the job complete.
- ● Take required installation photos and documentation.
- Safety
- ● Follow all OSHA and company safety requirements.
- ● Maintain a safe work environment for both employees and customers.
- ● Properly use PPE and safety equipment.
- ● Report unsafe conditions immediately.
Vehicle & Equipment
- ● Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle.
- ● Properly care for company tools and equipment.
- ● Monitor truck inventory.
- ● Report damaged or missing equipment.
- Administrative Responsibilities
- ● Complete all required paperwork electronically.
- ● Document materials used.
● Upload before-and-after photos.
- ● Record job notes accurately.
- ● Communicate schedule changes with dispatch.
- ● Ensure permits and inspections are completed when required.
Skills
- ● Texas Journeyman or Master Plumbing License (preferred depending on position)
- ● Minimum 5 years residential plumbing installation experience
- ● Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- ● Strong knowledge of plumbing codes
- ● Experience installing:
- ○ Tankless water heaters
- ○ Traditional water heaters
- ○ Whole-home water filtration
- ○ Water softeners
- ○ Sewer replacements
- ○ Gas piping
- ○ Repipes
- ○ Fixture replacements
