Handyman

Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the warehouse management team, the Handyman performs a variety of work in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, and equipment.  Resolves emergency situations; ensures that assigned projects are completed in a safe, proper and timely. The Handyman works actively with the DC management team and HR team and communicates daily tasks with Maintenance Team.

Duties:

·        Inspects facility, systems and their components for the purpose of identifying necessary repairs.

·        Communicate safety hazards related to equipment, building structure, racks, etc.

·        Verifies equipment is in good state prior to use

·        Maintains a clean and organized work environment, by picking up debris, organizing, cleaning and properly placing materials, products, and equipment in the assigned location.

·        Reviews the quality of racking, the replacement, maintenance, repairs, etc.  

·        Monitors tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of the shop

·        Assist in building projects, such as painting, movement of furniture/storage items, installing of machines to walls, minor electrical and plumbing fixes, emergency preparations, etc.

·        Performs a variety of physical labor including climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for long periods of time; lift and carry boxes, tools, equipment and materials

·        Maintains log and proper documentation of repairs, changes, etc.

·        Performs other DC maintenance duties and functions as assigned or needed

·        Ensures that all safety practices are complied with

Skills/Qualifications:

·        Minimum of 3 years maintenance or related-industry experience

·        Basic reading, writing, and math skills, basic computer skills

·        Requires experience in mechanical installation

·        Above average forklift driving skills

·        Understanding of methods used in maintenance and building repair, electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, glass replacement, painting, and grounds maintenance

·        Must be available to work past regular schedule hours, work overtime, and on weekends and/or holidays, as needed
