Teal’s Market is seeking a Deli/Bakery Operations Specialist to support and drive the company's objectives and goals. The Specialist is a multi-store support position designed to extend the range and frequency of store contact and to provide Deli and Bakery manager support. Under Teal’s Management, the Specialist participates in department remodels and retail-specific Deli and Bakery projects. A successful candidate must be versatile and experienced across a broad range of retail skills and possess a desire to continue learning.
Priorities in this position include, but are not limited to, training and development for Deli and Bakery Managers, growing comparative sales, conducting competition reviews and analyses, and increasing department net profitability in produce. In addition to this, the Specialist is charged with further refining the Deli and Bakery Manager position and the tools that help the department to succeed. This position reports to the General Manager and is based out of the Teal’s Management Office in Cold Spring, MN. This role also requires the ability to travel, including overnight trips and some weekends, to Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Responsibilities:
· Maintain a highly obvious presence in the store’s Deli and Bakery departments weekly.
· 3-4 days of driving weekly.
· Team Building - training, educating, and mentoring of produce department managers.
· Troubleshot margin and labor issues and worked with departments and the store manager to resolve them.
· Assists in the hiring and training of Deli and Bakery department managers.
· Focus on improving retail operating systems.
· Assist in the execution & development of the marketing plan for the Deli and Bakery.
· Assist in maintaining & developing retail standards for produce departments in stores.
· Make sure that stores follow through and use company resources.
· Maintain communication with the Deli manager, Bakery manager, and store manager.
· Assist in developing merchandising strategies for produce departments.
· Assist & drive department promotions and resets.
· Champion company programs and the Deli and Bakery department-related issues.
· Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- A Deli and Bakery leader with a successful track record or industry equivalent 5 years.
· A deep passion and enthusiasm for produce.
· Outstanding quality and performance standards.
· The highest merchandising skills and retail standards.
· Experience with equipment, fixtures, and store design.
· Excellent communication skills.
· An understanding of profit margin in produce department systems.
· An understanding of retail marketing.
· Experience with human resource management - excellent people skills.
· Ability to travel across in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.
· Position requires heavy lifting at times and must be able to lift at least 60lbs.
