Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

This role is responsible for leading site-wide Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, with a primary focus on environmental compliance, permitting, and sustainability initiatives within an industrial production environment. The position partners closely with site leadership to reduce environmental impact, ensure regulatory adherence, and drive continuous improvement across EHS performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the site lead and subject matter expert for environmental compliance programs, including air, water, waste, and chemical management.
  • Own and manage the site EHS Management System, with a focus on environmental performance, permitting, and regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., air emissions, wastewater discharge, hazardous materials, waste handling).
  • Maintain and manage all required environmental permits, inspections, and agency interactions.
  • Lead environmental audits and inspections; develop and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Monitor and analyze environmental metrics (emissions, waste generation, energy, water usage); implement improvement plans to reduce site impact.
  • Support and advance sustainability initiatives, including waste reduction, resource efficiency, and emissions reduction programs.
  • Maintain and improve ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems, ensuring alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate environmental incidents, releases, and non-compliance events; implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to integrate environmental requirements into process changes, capital projects, and daily operations.
  • Provide guidance on hazardous materials management, chemical handling, and environmental risk assessments.
  • Support emergency response planning with emphasis on environmental impact mitigation.
  • Lead site EHS reporting, including regulatory submissions and internal performance updates.
  • Develop and manage EHS budgets related to environmental compliance and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training and coaching to site personnel on environmental policies, procedures, and best practices.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related technical field.
  • Management experience, required.
  • 8-10 years of EHS experience, with a strong emphasis on environmental compliance in an industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing environmental permits and regulatory programs (air, water, waste).
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001; familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 9001.
  • Experience with environmental risk assessments, incident investigations, and compliance audits.
  • Understanding of industrial processes and associated environmental impacts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive compliance initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead programs, manage priorities, and support operational teams in a production environment.

Salary : $130,000 - $140,000
