Teak IP Services is seeking an experienced Patent Paralegal to join our team in Farmington, Utah. The ideal candidate has 2 years of patent prosecution experience and a strong understanding of USPTO procedures. This role supports patent attorneys and agents throughout the patent lifecycle, from application preparation through issuance and maintenance.
• Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications with the USPTO, including provisional, non-provisional, PCT, and foreign national phase filings
• Monitor and manage patent prosecution dockets, ensuring all deadlines are met for office action responses, maintenance fees, and annuities
• Draft and file formal documents including declarations, assignments, powers of attorney, information disclosure statements (IDS), and petitions
• Conduct prior art searches and assist with preparation of patentability, freedom-to-operate, and invalidity analyses
• Communicate with foreign counsel and associates regarding international patent filings and prosecution matters
• Review and analyze USPTO office actions, prepare response shells, and coordinate with attorneys on substantive responses
• Manage patent portfolios for multiple clients, maintaining organized records and status reports
• Coordinate invention disclosures and facilitate communication between inventors and patent practitioners
• Prepare and file post-grant proceedings, including reexamination requests, IPR petitions, and certificates of correction
• Generate client reports, status updates, and portfolio summaries as needed
• 2 years of experience as a patent paralegal or patent legal assistant
• Strong working knowledge of USPTO rules, procedures, and electronic filing systems (EFS-Web/Patent Center)
• Proficiency with patent docketing software (e.g., Foundation IP, CPi, AppColl, or similar)
• Experience preparing and filing patent applications, IDS forms, and formal documents
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
