Position Opening: Paraprofessional – Special Education Support
Location: East Union Community Schools – Afton, Iowa

Position Summary:
East Union is seeking a dependable and compassionate Paraprofessional to assist students with special education needs in the school setting. This school-year position supports students in their academic, behavioral, and social development under the direction of licensed staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support to students in classroom, small group, or one-on-one settings.
Assist with implementing academic and behavioral strategies as directed by teachers.
Help students with daily routines, transitions, and peer interactions.
Maintain a safe and supportive environment.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other support personnel.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student matters.
Position Details:
School-year schedule following student contact days (summers off)
Regular school-day hours (Tuesday–Friday)
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working with youth or in educational settings preferred
Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction from certified staff
Patience, consistency, and professionalism in student interactions.
