Position Overview
The School Nurse at Sioux Central provides high-quality health services to our student body, addressing both physical and emotional health needs to remove barriers to learning. As the primary health provider for the district, you will support students across all grade levels in a collaborative, community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Student Care: Provide immediate care, first aid, and medication administration to students ranging from PK to 12th grade.
- Health Assessments: Perform required health screenings (vision, hearing) and evaluate students to determine if a higher level of medical intervention is needed.
- Immunization Management: Ensure all students remain in compliance with Iowa Department of Public Health immunization requirements.
- Individualized Health Plans (IHPs): Develop and implement IHPs for students with chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, allergies, diabetes).
- Team Collaboration: Partner with teachers, families, and community resources to coordinate care and participate in school safety and wellness teams.
- Emergency Response: Lead triage and medical intervention during school-site emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Iowa.
- Skills: Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and communication skills.
- Independence: Ability to work effectively and independently within a comprehensive PK-12 environment.
