The School Business Official – Finance serves as the chief financial administrator of the district and is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and administering the district’s financial operations in accordance with Iowa law, Department of Education requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards, and Board policy. The district welcomes candidates with a strong accounting or governmental finance background who are interested in transitioning into school finance and will support the successful candidate in obtaining the required Iowa School Business Official Authorization.
This position works collaboratively with the district’s School Business Official – Human Resources/Board Secretary to ensure the efficient operation of the Business Office. While this position has primary responsibility for finance, budgeting, accounting, and state financial reporting, the Human Resources/Board Secretary School Business Official oversees human resources, employee benefits, payroll administration, and Board of Education operations. The two positions work closely together to maintain compliance, provide continuity of operations, and support the Superintendent, Board of Education, district staff, and community.
