JOB SUMMARY:
Support the teacher in creating a safe, organized and engaging learning environment for students. Assist with preparing materials for the classroom, reinforcing learning concepts, provide additional supervision for students and offer individualized support where needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Support and foster the Christian uniqueness of the learning community
- Use Gospel values as the basis for decision making
- Possess an ability to be flexible, adaptive, and cooperative
- Attitude of helpfulness and ability to work well with others
- Demonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities
- Display patience and understanding
- Possess the organizational and technological skills necessary to complete assigned duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to support and reinforce learning with students either one on one or in small group settings
- Ability to assist in classroom to support learning, assist with understanding and provide additional assistance to students when needed
- Supervise students during non-classroom time such as lunch, recess and in the hallways to ensure safety.
- Support and promote the philosophy of Catholic education and contribute to building a spirit of unity within the school and the Cedar Valley Catholic Schools System
- Comply with rules and objectives of the school, Cedar Valley Catholic Schools and the Archdiocese of Dubuque
- Promote positive public relations with staff, parents and the public in all daily contacts, including phone conversations and school visits
- Monitor, observe and support student behaviors in accordance with approved policies and procedures
- Ability to develop rapport and interact effectively with students.
- Ability to interact and collaborate with staff, students and families in a professional manner.
- Ability to support and reinforce learning with students either one on one or in small group settings.
These duties are not all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Lifts and moves items up to 20 pounds.
