BAND TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Band Teacher
Location: St. Theresa Catholic School, Des Moines
Reports To: Administrator
Position Summary
St. Theresa Catholic School in Des Moines is seeking a passionate and faith-filled part-time 5-8 Band Teacher to grow our band and lead our band program. The ideal candidate will foster a love of music while supporting the mission of Catholic education.
Essential Responsibilities
- Leading Beginning and Advanced Bands groups
- Preparing students through lessons and group bands for concerts and special events
- Directing student performances and coordinating seasonal programs
- Integrating instrumental experiences
- Maintaining a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field
- Valid Iowa teaching license (or ability to obtain)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the school
